Harry Styles confirms split with cougar Caroline via Twitter
Their relationship was never confirmed nor denied – until now.
Harry Styles, who will turn 18 on Wednesday, tweeted fans to confirm that he has split from Caroline Flack, 32.
He hit out at reports that he had dumped the presenter of The Xtra Factor saying, “Please know I didn’t “dump” Caroline. This was a mutual decision. She is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know.”
The pair sparked controversy when they were pictured together back in October due to the 15 year age gap but ignored the furore which saw Alex Curran and other celebrities lash out over their pairing. They were adverse to courting more controversy though and frequently avoided being photographed together with the picture above being one of the only ones of the couple.
They were spotted leaving each other’s houses in the early hours of the morning but they were said to have split over the new year just before Styles and band One Direction jetted off on their first American tour.
Amanda Holden gives birth as it’s announced she was in critical condition
Amanda Holden has given birth to her second daughter.
A spokesperson for her and her husband, Chris Hughes, announced that the pair had become parents to Hollie Rose Hughes on Monday however the announcement was delayed due to Holden being in ‘critical condition’ for three days as she battled for life. Holden was due to take part in the Britain’s Got Talent auditions before being admitted to hospital on Monday where she underwent emergency blood transfusions while her newborn daughter, born by Caesarean section, was put on a respirator in a special care unit.
Baby Hollie weighed in at 6lb 1oz and is now said to be ‘healthy’.
A friend said, “Amanda lost several pints of blood and had to have a number of transfusions. Hollie could not breathe. For a while both were fighting for life. Thankfully Hollie is now out of the woods and Amanda is recovering too.”
Holden is expected to make a full recovery while the exact details of what caused her huge loss of blood have not been made public.
Holden has had a history of difficult pregnancies so we are delighted to hear the good news.
Sienna and Savannah Miller step down as Twenty8Twelve designers
After 6 years, sisters Sienna and Savannah Miller have stepped down as co-creative directors of their fashion label.
The pair are ending their involvement with their fashion line, leaving it in the hands of the current design team in order to move on to pursue other ventures.
Sienna Miller is reportedly pregnant with her first child and it is believed she is leaving to make more time to be a mother.
They said in a statement, “We’ve had a brilliant six years at Twenty8Twelve and are now looking forward to new pastures. We wish the brand the best of luck for the future.”
The label will be renamed Twenty8Twelve London instead of Twenty8Twelve by s. miller.
Managing director Nish Soneji said, “We’ve had a great partnership with the Miller sisters. From the beginning, our mission was to create a contemporary label with its own identity and strong directional design, as well as an emphasis on quality, cut and finishing. That vision, along with the uniquely British style the collection has become known for, will continue under the direction of the Twenty8Twelve design team.”
Celebs model new T-shirts for Sport Relief
Celebrities such as Amy Childs, Kirk Norcross and Kara Tointon have been photographed donning this year’s Sport Relief T-shirts to raise money for the charity.
The charity aims to raise money to help disadvantaged people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
Childs, who is more often known for slapping on fake tan and wearing false eyelashes said, “Like me you don’t need to be sporty to get involved with Sport Relief. Trust me, the only way is to buy the T-shirt, look fantastic and know you’re doing your bit.”
T-shirts are available from Sportsdirect.com and they can also be personalised with numbers and your name.
Dave Forsey, CEO of Sportsdirect.com, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Sport Relief and look forward to contributing to another phenomenal campaign.”
Sport Relief is being celebrated from March 23 to 25 and Olly Murs and JLS will take to the stage on 24th March at the O2 to raise money while a million people are expected to take part in the sponsored Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.
The Sport Relief T-shirt launches today, visit www.sportsdirect.com or your local store to buy and personalise your own T-shirt.
Tesco to price products based on affluence of area
Tesco are set to change up their in-store pricing by basing their prices of products and stocking of items on the wealth of the area.
The move comes after a nosedive in sales over the Christmas period which saw an annual fall of 2.3%.
Their plan is to tailor the ranges of products they sell and their prices to the incomes of the families who live in the area.
In poorer areas, where there is a threat from budget supermarkets such as Aldi, Lidl and Iceland, Tesco will stock and promote more value lines whereas in more affluent areas, they will story more high end products and ranges to compete with Waitrose and Marks and Spencer.
Tesco already have a policy of charging more in their smaller Express and Metro stores and as with many other supermarkets, also charges different prices for petrol based on location and the level of local competition.
Details of their new strategy was revealed by Tesco suppliers who have been talking to industry magazine The Grocer.
They said, “Tesco is set to launch a wave of price promotions and range reviews based on the affluence of areas. Tesco has begun talks with suppliers aimed at launching price promotions in less well-off areas where it is facing competition from the likes of Aldi and Lidl.”
Tesco themselves refused to comment on any upcoming strategy. A spokesman said, “We are not considering dual pricing. We cannot make any comment beyond that. We already have different ranges in different stores.”
Where not to eat lunch unless you want a 2000 calorie meal
How many times have we heard the phrase, “You are what you eat”?
Not J D Wetherspoons apparently who are serving up a blood pressure soaring, heart attack on a plate meal amounting to a calorific 2000 calories.
The chain serves up a mixed grill which has won the accolade of the unhealthiest dish in the country. Consisting of gammon, rump and pork steaks, lamb chops, chips, a fried egg, six beer-battered onion rings and two pork sausages, Wetherspoons serves around 12,000 of these meals a week at a price of £10.49.
With a total of almost 2000 calories, it would provide nearly all of a woman’s recommended maximum intake on a single plate. It also contains 42g of saturated fat (more than double the maximum recommended for an adult in a day) and an over the limit amount of salt at 6.2g.
The findings are taken from book Eat This, Not That!, which is published by Hearst-Rodale and acts to name and shame unhealthy restaurants and cafes in the UK.
They also look at Pret A Manger, Costa, Café Rouge, Strada and Prezzo, and also point out the healthier alternatives on their menus.
Eat This, Not That! can be purchased online now for £9.99 at www.hearstsubs.co.uk/mh/bk79
M&S model, 86, returns to catwalk 8 decades after she started career
A former model has returned to the catwalk, 8 decades after she started modelling.
Pauline Crystal posed for a show celebrating the fashions of high street chain Marks & Spencer, where she used to work.
Back in 1930, at the age of three, she modelled a pair of jodhpurs by sitting on a rocking horse. Fast forward eight decades and Crystal is still in demand for work as a model where she modelled a range of vintage M&S styles bought by fashion students at Leeds University.
The event comes just ahead of the opening of the M&S company archive which now has its permanent home at the University.
Crystal, a former Marks & Spencer manager, donned a 1970s faux fur coat, a 1960s shift dress, a modern white men’s shirt and lace tights, sourced by the students from eBay.
Over the years she has modelled bridal wear and department store fashions.
She said of fashion, “I prefer the tailored look. If it is simple, it is better. Young people can wear what they like and how they like. The fashion of today suits young people, which it should do. I am an M&S girl. The clothes are wonderful – I live in them.”
She added that her top top to M&S models back in the day was, “My advice was hold your tummy in and push your bust out.”
Burberry announce sales boom but is it thanks to Princess Kate?
Ever since their designer items were deemed ‘chav’, Burberry have been trying to claw back their reputation as reputable designers.
When a pre-royal appearance showed a then Kate Middleton donning their £650 trench coat, the designer saw the item sell out in hours.
As with everything else she wears, it seems people can’t get enough of what Kate wears. The fashion label though, have played down the ‘Kate effect’ claiming that their increase in sales is due to a market-leading social networks policy, and having shops in all the right places.
Whatever it is, something is going well for the brand; they have had strong performances in London, Beijing, Hong Kong and Paris boosted revenues by 21 per cent in the final three months of 2011. They now target their market at younger, luxury-focused customers and the high-end tourist market while they have also been focussing on their make up and beauty range with a fragrance campaign led by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Their social network campaign must be working since their Facebook page saw more a total of 10 million fans join their Facebook page.
George Clooney and Meryl Streep lead BAFTA nominations
